Another illustration from the LOTR (the book, not the movie). When Sam, in front of the devastated Shire remembers of the small box given by Galadriel, and sows its contents. You can see the result in the picture :"The Mallorn of the Shire" ;) I hope you'll like it.

The hills kind of look like ice cream dips. But I’m sure that’s not what you intended. It’s kind of a strange (in a good way) picture in that it looks happy when you look at it, but it really isn’t a happy picture. Sort of unsettling, but good. Because it’s not what I expected.

:-) Anne Wipf replies: "For the ice cream dips, someone else already noticed it. It was not my intention, of course, but I’m not worry with the comparing: it is not really a sad picture, the gift of Galadriel gives a great hope. Nevertheless, the sky is grey and the earth brown, as if it was a long winter. Thank you for your kind comment."

Maybe I missed something but what kind of seeds would those trees have. Nuts, sycamore style helicopters or as you have here little seeds with fluff like dandelion seeds? LOL those stylised fields do look like ice cream scoops. I like the mint choc chip ones 12

:-) Anne Wipf replies: "A bit of all kind of seed... Thank you for your kind comment. But, for the ice cream scoops, I like better pistachio and coffee... LOL Thank you for your kind comment 1"

This has a great sense of hope and optimism. Even though the land is devestated, you have painted it in a way that is very nice to look at and promises that things will get better.

:-) Anne Wipf replies: "Thank you 1"

You should really be given the opportunity to fully illustrate a Tolkien story (The Hobbit would be a perfect choise).

:-) Anne Wipf replies: "Thank you, Richard. But it is not so easy to convince some publishers 12"

Neato...I think this is the first picture I’ve seen of Sam’s gift. Which I think was as important as all the others, since it meant he could begin the work of undoing all the damage that Mordor did. You did an awesome job with watercolors.

:-) Anne Wipf replies: "Yes, I think that this part of the book is important and it is a pity the picture avoided it, as well as for some other passages. Thank you for your lovely comment. And thank you for the tag, it is greatly appreciated 1"
