An illustration of a famous song of a singer called Barbara : "L'Aigle Noir" (the Black Eagle).

In this song, "one day or perhaps one night", near a lake where the singer was asleep, she saw a black crowned eagle and beg him to carry her to her child's dreams. But the black eagle flew away and let her alone with her sorow, some "night colour feathers" and "a tear or, perhaps, a ruby".

Done with acrylic on canvas for the background, Photoshop for the eagle, the feathers, the ruby and the sky (the original sky looked too pale on the photo I took of the painting).

There’s something interesting about the whole look of the painting. It looks peaceful enough, but it also looks like something sinister could be hiding somewhere. At the same time, the story above give me an entirely different, and the preferred feeling of longing.

:-) Anne Wipf replies: "I’m impressed by your feeling, John. Of course, the song gives a feeling of longing, but the singer (and writer) of this song said that the incest she suffered by her father when she was a child inspired her for this song. So, the hidden sinister thing is present somewhere, and I’m pleased if I succeeded uncounsciously to give it. Thank you 1"
