It is a long time I didn't upload a new picture. Not enough time for drawing. It is the reason why - awaiting some new drawing - I decided to apload this illustration, done for the 2008 calendar of Tolkiendil, the association, promoting the work of Tolkien, I belong to. I hope you'll like it. All the dwarves travelling with Bilbo are here (try to recognize them). And, yes, the eyes are those of the spiders. ;)

It’s funny and good for some childrens books, but can’t you go back to your old dreamalike style with the flowers?

:-) Anne Wipf replies: "Alas, Stefan. I must say that it is a long time I didn’t paint this kind of pictures. It take so much time to do and I have such a few free time 8"

Wow, I’ve never thought of dwarves as particularly cute before, but those guys are absolutely adorable! As always, your use of colour is really delightful and pleasant to look at. I wonder, have you ever considered illustrating childrens books? Because I think some of your artwork, such as this one would be perfect for that 2. You have such a happy feeling over your pictures. Beautiful! 11

:-) Anne Wipf replies: "Thank you Michelle, I’m glad you like it. I already wrote and illustrated a children book: I finished it in March and posted my manuscript to some editors, but did not received yet a positive answer for publishing; half of the editors did not answer today, and I’m waiting with hope: in September, perhaps... Hello, Anne! I love the colors, the dwarfs-- and the perspective is awesome! This really should be in a children’s book!! I agree with all of the above!! Once again, thanks for sharing your magical work with the world!

:-) Anne Wipf replies: "Thank you soooooo much, Jade. 1"

I swear, If I look long enough at those spider-eyes, I see them blinking... maybe I’ve studied too long today^^

:-) Anne Wipf replies: "Thank you, Lucie. You’ve probably studied too long... 12"

This made me giggle, I love the dwarfes. I also like the black animals and the composition in general. However I think the picture could do without the eyes scattered around. They look far to cartoony to mesh with the rest of the painting.

:-) Anne Wipf replies: "Thank you for commenting. This picture is an illustration of "The Hobbit" by Tolkien, done for a commission, and I had to suggest the presence of the giant spiders in Mirkwood, it is the reason why I draw their eyes. (At this moment of the story, Bilbo and the dwarves don’t know there are giant spiders in the wood, by they feel uncounsciously their presence). 2"
